I'm researching filing chapter 7. I have debt from all around, including credit cards, car loans, student loans, and medical expenses. I recently got married and am expecting my first child. My husband works, but we can barely arfford to pay for what we need. We are living with my parents, both of whom are laid off of work. Every bit of our money goes towards bills and helping my family. We have no assets, and with really poor credit it is hard to find anyone to work with us in financing a car, etc. I'm only 20 years old, but this seems to be the best way to give myself a fresh start so my family and I are not struggling forever. Any advice?

Im researching for a friend who is terrified he will go to jail. At one time he had great credit and owned 2 homes. After his divorce everything went downhill. He extended himself on a bad business deal and ended up foreclosing the two homes and now is in debt for 300,000, not counting the homes. Is there any hope for this guy?

If i am discharged in chapter 7 which included our mortgage loan... am i required to continue payments on property tax? We chose to continue to pay the mortgage company to stay in our home, but we are contemplating on whether we are still liable for paying the property tax after discharge?

We are currently filing for chap 13 we are 4months behind on our mortage. Will chapter 13 help to save our home or will it evenually be another forecloser? What if the mortage company dosen't like the first proposal can they decline any proposal offered and still take the house?

Amanda, I do not know if someone addressed your questions and I am not an attorney but have some knowledge. 7 is outright bankruptcy where 13 is file for re-org or re-payment. With todays new laws, it is harder to qualify for 7 and the debt companies now can go after the principle but the interest is usually forgiven. You need to look at your picture and consult an attorney. May God bless you and watch over you and your family. Good luck. Scott
